If you're an experienced accountant with a keen eye for accuracy, there's an exciting opportunity through Accountemps for you to check out at a firm in the Energy/Natural Resources industry. In this role, you will have responsibility over the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you'll have responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will look over schedules for the reporting processes, participate in compliance, and keep in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. A highly involved position, it works to produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. What you get to do every single day
Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls under SOX and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Experience with ERP systems
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Deep understanding of check processing
Command of account reconciliation
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
High attention to detail
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
