Join CSRA and be a part of the team of men and women that solve some of the world's most complex technical challenges. The NCIS team is searching for a Senior SQL Data Engineer to join their program in Quantico, VA .
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is an organization of approximately 2,000 personnel of which 700 serve at HQ and the remaining staff serve at offices worldwide. NCIS is the DON component with primary responsibility for criminal investigation, law enforcement (LE), counter-terrorism (CT), counterintelligence (CI), and cyber matters. NCIS not only has primary responsibility for all criminal investigative, CI, CT, and cyber matters within the DON, but it also has exclusive investigative jurisdiction in non-combat matters involving actual, potential, or suspected criminal, terrorism, sabotage, espionage, and subversive activities.
NCIS provides the DON with threat status and warnings associated with terrorist, criminal, cyber, and counterintelligence activity throughout the world. NCIS is the only DON organization that has the information and responsibility to fuse and analyze the national intelligence and law enforcement information necessary to provide these warnings.
The Information Technology Directorate (ITD) supports the NCIS core mission areas to investigate and defeat criminal, terrorist, and foreign intelligence threats by planning for and providing services through appropriate use of the people, equipment, technology, and infrastructure resources of the United States Navy and Marine Corps.
Develop extract, transform, and load (ETL) for data staging and reporting tables
Reverse engineer and analyze new data sources
Design data warehouse tables and objects for incorporation of new data in the Fact/Dimensional reporting schema, following the Kimball method
Develop data definition language (DDL) for database objects
Analyze and optimize generated queries
Monitor scheduled job performance
Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements
Manage data migration to include the migration plan, cleansing, transformation and testing
Manages all aspects of end-to-end data processing utilizing customized report building functions of systems
Maintains analytical systems, verifies the accuracy of the data, and acts as liaison with business
Maintains security and integrity controls
Perform data analysis/testing of the results of data migration scripts and stored procedures to verify and validate the successful migration of data from a legacy database to a new database (both Oracle 11g)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree
10+ years of experience with the following:
Oracle 11g or higher
Strong Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and query performance tuning
Strong data analyst/tester background
ETL development and performance tuning
Experience with Entellitrack (major plus)
Experience with Law Enforcement Data (major plus)
ETL Business Objects Data Services 4.2
Data profiling and analysis
SAP Business Intelligence
Fact/Dimensional data modeling
Experience in a fast-paced environment with a proven engineering, development, deployment, and maintenance of business critical systems -- to include hands-on solutions development and implementation experience
Ability to translate technical issues into understandable business language for end users
Ability to establish and document new standards for quality, performance or productivity
Current DoD 8570 - IAT Level II (GSEC, Security+ CE , SSCP, or CCNA-Security)
Secret (S) clearance is required to start; must be eligible to obtain SCI-level adjudication
Programming languages: HTML, Java Script, Python, etc.
Big Data (i.e. Cassandra, Zift, Kibana, Data Visor, Oracle Pl/SQL, etc.)
